Bangladeshi nationals staying abroad will henceforth receive their passports in only three to five working days.
Department of Immigration and Passports director general Masud Rezwan, also a major general, said this to Prothom Alo on Sunday.
Bangladeshi nationals abroad would need two to two-and-a-half months to get their passports after submission of their applications as passports would be sent through diplomatic bags in the past, said Masud Rezwan.
The government has recently signed a deal with the Federal Express (FedEx) courier service to send passports to Bangladeshi expatriates quickly in future.
He said the FedEx has already started sending passports to eight countries including the USA.
